Harold's Door swings open as typing gets louder

HAROLD
Good ta see ya. Wait till you see what I was sayin" when I start typin'. Hang on.

HAROLD
I ain't looney, you know.

HIs fingers whirred away typing

HAROLD

Watch,! I typed "future a hundred years from now"! An' thas what's gonna show up, just wait and see.

HAROLD
Never know what's gonna show? Ain't always pretty.

HAROLD
Gotta change that to people being nice, doin" good. Works sometimes.

HAROLD
Seems we hurtin' each other bad...

HAROLD
... seems we ain't learnd much sometimes....

HAROLD
But I type an' never know what I'll see...

HAROLD
Gosh, hope I didn't spook ya? But it happens...

HAROLD
People got things to learn I guess?

TITLE:

“HAROLD THORNBEE’S AMAZING TYPEWRITER”

VR Guide: For today's Virtual Reality displays and productions, simple single set stage, which then transforms, opening itself up from a viewer point of view. In this story Harold becomes a semi narrator and guide, but the VR viewer is free to take in a 360 degree view, and a world that expands beyond the rooms walls. VR then becomes about environments and transformations which offer an array of options and new places for the VR viewer to explore and engage.

A Virtual reality screenplay story, where the viewer is YOU entering the world of Harold Thrornbee’s 1935 Hollywood Hotel at night.

OPENING: TIME - YEAR: 1935

INT. HOTEL HALLWAY - NIGHT

MUFFLED SOUND: RADIO speech by FDR can be heard coming from various rooms.

SUDDENLY: A ROOM DOOR on left opens halfway.

YOU VR VIEWER push open door and enter. DOOR closes behind YOU.

INT. 1930 - HOLLYWOOD HOTEL - HALLWAY - NIGHT

YOU VR VIEWER walk down hallway.

SOUND: clattering of typewriter from within room to your left.

DOOR swings open to Harold’s room on left.

YOU VR VIEWER ENTER THE ROOM

INT. ROOM 206 - HOLLYWOOD HOTEL - NIGHT
HAROLD THORNBEE, thirties, wearing a fedora sits is seated at a small desk in a corner of the dimly lit hotel room, typing furiously away.

HAROLD
Good ta see ya. Wait till you see what I was sayin’ when I start typing”.

The lights in room room dim.

HAROLD
I ain’t looney you know.

Harold fingers whirred away typing.

HAROLD
Just watch the wall over there. You ain’t gonna believe ya eyes.

The Far wall behind the bed slowly begins to FADE AWAY.
REVEALING: the Art Deco office building across the street.

HAROLD
See it happening?

A moment goes by then slowly the building across the street DISSOLVES as HAROLD types away:

HAROLD
Watch! I typed “future a hundred years from now”! An’ that's what’s gonna show up, just wait and see.

DISSOLVE: Building into Afghanistan 2014, dessert battlefield.
MUFFLED DISTORTED SOUNDS; blending of guns shots, and SOLDIER: “patrol six returning fire!….”patrol six returning fire!….

HAROLD
Never know what’s gonna show? Ain’t always pretty.

The battle rages on more gun shots, screams.

HAROLD
Gotta change that to people being nice, good. Works sometimes.

SLOW DISSOLVE: from battle to aftermath of soldier holding crying child.

MUFFLED DISTORTED SOUND: Child crying then FADES DOWN.

HAROLD
Seems we hurtin’ each other bad…

SLOW DISSOLVE: another hurt crying child screaming out.

HAROLD types furiously as the VISIONS DISSOLVE BACK into the HOTEL ROOM.

HAROLD
But I type an’ never know what I’ll see.

THE HOTEL room returns to it’s dimmed lit look.

HAROLD
Gosh hope I didn’t spoke ya? But it happens.

THE ROOM lights then return to normal.

HAROLD
People got things to learn I guess?
